Try to survive the zombie apocalypse in augmented reality

The Walking Dead: Our World is an Android video game based on the popular AMC TV series The Walking Dead, which in turn is based on the comic by Robert Kirkman. Using your smartphone's geolocalization system and augmented reality, you'll have to try to survive in the real world after a zombie apocalypse.

The game is strongly inspired by Niantic Labs Ingress games and the very popular Pokémon GO. Basically, you can explore your surroundings, interact with elements superimposed on the real world, build your own shelter, find survivors, and, in short, subsist on what you can in this bleak world.

When you run into someone, you'll play an action-based minigame where you shoot against the zombies you find in the area in question by making gestures on your screen. If you want to survive, you'll need to find and improve weapons as you play and even get some help from certain NPCs.

The resources you gather are represented by cards that you can level up, so the main objective of The Walking Dead: Our World is to craft all kinds of materials while clearing out zones plagued with zombies. That said, you can also form groups with other players and take advantage of buildings and safe zones built by others.

The Walking Dead: Our World is a fun game that, following in the footsteps of Pokémon GO, gives you access to an endless adventure that takes place in the real world. After all, any video game that gets you out of the house and moving around is a good idea - and if it includes zombies, too, then there's not much more you can ask for.

Here comes the new wave of geolocation and augmented reality games

Games based on geolocation aren't exactly anything new. A couple of years ago when Pokemon GO showed up, it revitalized a subgenre that, despite appearing to be destined to be one of the most popular, hasn't had too many noteworthy replicas. Nonetheless, and although both titles from Niantic are still the pacesetters, we still have a new wave of titles that seem to be ready to pick up the slack thanks to the recent public opening of the Google Maps API.
